Best GPS Systems For Dogs?

I live on a farm… it’s around 3 miles out of town, and we have problems with our dogs.

They stick around well when someone is outside, but if you don’t pay attention for a while, they tend to run off because they are very active dogs that like to chase wildlife.

They can be gone for up to a day or two at times, so I was wondering if there was some simple GPS system I could get to be able to find them when they disappear?

I thought maybe microchipping them would work but researched it and found that is not what I want at all. I want a GPS , so I can go out and find them myself, so only option I can think of is a GPS collar, but some of them make you set up a boundry and when the dog leaves it, it sounds an alarm and you can find them, which might work but we would have quite a large boundry since we live on a farm.

Any good products out there that are fast and simple?

You have to purchase the gps unit, then there is a monthly fee for a certain number of "locates" allowed- if you go over then it’s an additional charge per instance they locate the dog. Or an annual fee. And what good would the "locate" do you if the dog is dead in the middle of the road, or killed by another animal. They’d find him for you- dead.

A cheaper and safer solution in the long run is to put up a fence, and not to let your dogs roam at all.
