Our dogs run away when off together! Any help?

When our two Border Collie mixes are off together (their brothers and we pretend they are spies. :P ) they run off and we are DYING to know where they go every time. We wanna use a GPS that we have, strap i ton hit back pack, put it on Track so it shows a line of where you’ve gone, and then let ‘em run. BUT the (GPS is water proof) dogs run through water and lie down in it and I don’t want the Back Pack wet. I REALLY want a GPS where the one piece tracks and the other you can SEE where the GPS piece is. About 0 or so dollars available for spending right now. Can get more. Any ideas? (i don’t mind themm running off. We know how to handle it and we ive in the country so they can’t get hit by cars and stuff. It’s fine.) Thnkas a ton guys!!

Shelter DOgs Rule: They have NEVER had parisites. We’ve had them checked multiple times. They only every once in a while get ticks. And not all THAT often. We always have tick meds handy.
We are trying our BEST of our capability. Sometimes the collar will slip or the line will break. Mistakes happen. I thank you for your concern and I will try harder to keep an eye on them. last time they dissapeared was about….five months ago.
