At first when microchipping started I and other people we under the impression that you could track your dogs anywhere.
Well that wasn’t the case… so I’ve never thought Microchipping was that great… say my dog gets lost or someone takes it
Not everyone is going to be honest and say they just found the dog and therefore they may never be scanned for microchip.
I’m just curious because I know I would pay out the money for a GPS chip or device for my dogs
Do you think it will ever happen?
I just feel GPS would be the only real guarantee of getting your dog back
if its on the collar it wouldn’t matter people are dishonest and could just take it off.
I haven’t had either of my dogs microchipped yet because I don’t know much about it and I’m not sure how I feel about it. Since they can’t GPS track them and its just luck if someone gets the dog and takes the dog to a vet or shelter and they check for it.
I see so many dogs on craiglist where someone found them and immediately tries to sell them
I’ve also heard that the chips can cause problems, pain and sometimes illness is this true.
We will be traveling with them soon and is it expensive to microchip….I know at the last vet we were at (before we moved) it was 75 per dog plus registration fee
We haven’t asked the new vet yet.
Where is the best place to get it done, probably the vet right?
We are in TN
What are the pros and cons….I know a pro is I heard a story about a husky that ended up 3 states away and the owner was able to get him back (He was stolen and sold)
Anyways thanks
My dogs are 14 months old and 10 months old
what are our affordable options…only one of us is working right now so if there is a cheaper way but still safe that would be great

I just thought of how neat it’d be to have a chip in your dog ok well it can be the same little microchip but along with your information for contact it could read your dogs entire vet history! wowie dang, end of keeping up with all those tags! and everyone of importance would have a scanner to scan the dog to check it out and see if it’s UTD on shots and stuff instead of taking someones word for it and having to keep up with paperwork and junk u can just be all "scan my dog and see for yourself!" and if you ever lose your dog you can track it on a gps lol…… ohhhhh the technology!!!! I *KNOW* they CAN do it… it’s just a matter of WHEN they’re going to do all of this.. anyone else think it’d be neat? or is it creepy? cause i can kind of see the creep factor going on there "oh no tracking my dog on GPS next thing ya know they’ll wanna start microchipping kids"…….. but i’m not all opposed to that either….. cause if a kid gets kidnapped like a little baby you know…..
oh and no i wasn’t high! i was dying my hair though……… just beebopping along… doin my thang thinkin about my dogs…. and it hit me! wow i need to get that done to my dogs… i KNOW for a fact they have tried it on people
maybe in a few years when they let out how far advanced the technology really is…

I am aware that a microchip can be placed in a pet for identification purposes, e.g. with name, address, phone, etc. But, I’m wondering if there’s such a device available commercially (as is available for an auto) that can be activated if a pet (dog or cat) is lost (or stolen)?

My dogs got out sunday. I have not been able to sleep right, nor have i had an appette. one was a full breed 1yr old female german shepherd, and the other an 8 yr. old male shepherd mix. They dug a whole and got out, only thing is the male has returned within an hour all the previous times hes gotten out. this time they both have been missing for 3days. I had him tied up so he wouldnt dig, but he got out of his collar and left. anyway, the female has a microchip and i have read, and heard that there is some sort of tracking device that is somewhat like a gps for dogs that have a microchip. if so is this true, and where can i locate one of these places that does it. I asked at my local humane society and they said they didnt know anything about it. Can anyone please offer some valuable information on this? I have already scouted my entire city and have made 100+ flyers and have an ad coming out in this weeks paper….please help my find more info..thanks!

MICROCHIP IMPLANTED GPS TRACKING FOR A DOG… does anyone know where to find GOOD info on this, and how much does it cost. No collars, and stuff like that MICROCHIP IMPLANTED GPS TRACKING FOR A DOG…. thanks
the only reason I thought of doing this is because 1 of my cats disappeared this week, and well my dog Diamond it would kill me for her to get stolen from me or lost. She is a Hybrid-Australian Dingo and is honestly my kid to me and bestfriend. If she goes places with me not only kids but adults without kids stop me and talk to me about her, everyone wants to see her and I am just afraid of the unthinkable.. but this cancer and tumor no way I am trying to get my good 15yrs in with her going on 2..thanks for the responses…
