Okay, so we’re getting a dog and I was wondering how these work? How much do they cost? Do I just got to any ole Vet to have one… um put in? Do they have to undergo surgery or anything?
I’m just wondering how this works, so if anyone could inform me I would very much appreciate it.
Thanks

I haven’t had either of my dogs microchipped yet because I don’t know much about it and I’m not sure how I feel about it. Since they can’t GPS track them and its just luck if someone gets the dog and takes the dog to a vet or shelter and they check for it.
I see so many dogs on craiglist where someone found them and immediately tries to sell them
I’ve also heard that the chips can cause problems, pain and sometimes illness is this true.
We will be traveling with them soon and is it expensive to microchip….I know at the last vet we were at (before we moved) it was 75 per dog plus registration fee
We haven’t asked the new vet yet.
Where is the best place to get it done, probably the vet right?
We are in TN
What are the pros and cons….I know a pro is I heard a story about a husky that ended up 3 states away and the owner was able to get him back (He was stolen and sold)
Anyways thanks
My dogs are 14 months old and 10 months old
what are our affordable options…only one of us is working right now so if there is a cheaper way but still safe that would be great

I just took my dog to the vet to get her shots and i realized this booklet ResQ a pet tracking system. I wanted to know if your pet has one if she had any symptoms, or just your thoughts on this product or if theres something better out there? I know the prices vary. But i am a little confused because the ones i was reading online were 0+ i go to my vet and there charging around so they are different i just dont understand what the difference it. Is a ResQ chip kind of a GPS in a dog you call the vet or who ever and type in a number and you can find where your dog is? kind of what they have in cell phones. Or would you have to wait for someone to pick the dog up an officer or any kind person and take the dog in which then you would have to wait for to happen. So is this a good thing to have or not? I just need some clarification is all.
thanks

Dogs are now tracked by a small implated chip in their neck, it is registered with the dog regisrty and every time they go to a vet it’s scanned and if the dog is lost or stolen it will come up with owners info. Why can’t we do soething like this for our kids? and put sensors installed in public places when a lost or kidnapped child passes by a signal goes off and a GPS tracking device tells police where they are? Then at 18 they can have the chip removed if they want when they are on their own. Come on parents what’s your take on this? if you HAVE kids you know what I mean, you could maybe even check their where abouts 24 hours a day with a GPS web site service? no more wondering fi they are in school right now check the web site!! million dollar idea if you ask me!
Tell the parents of abducted children how LAZY they were to have their kids stolen from them! It’s a great idea to know 24/7 where kids are and it would also cut down the abductions for fear of the child having a chip in him or her.
Maybe have it so it’s not activated unless they are abducted? like lojac for kids? Hey even the Hospital nursery have a electronic tag system when babies are there.

I just thought of how neat it’d be to have a chip in your dog ok well it can be the same little microchip but along with your information for contact it could read your dogs entire vet history! wowie dang, end of keeping up with all those tags! and everyone of importance would have a scanner to scan the dog to check it out and see if it’s UTD on shots and stuff instead of taking someones word for it and having to keep up with paperwork and junk u can just be all "scan my dog and see for yourself!" and if you ever lose your dog you can track it on a gps lol…… ohhhhh the technology!!!! I *KNOW* they CAN do it… it’s just a matter of WHEN they’re going to do all of this.. anyone else think it’d be neat? or is it creepy? cause i can kind of see the creep factor going on there "oh no tracking my dog on GPS next thing ya know they’ll wanna start microchipping kids"…….. but i’m not all opposed to that either….. cause if a kid gets kidnapped like a little baby you know…..
oh and no i wasn’t high! i was dying my hair though……… just beebopping along… doin my thang thinkin about my dogs…. and it hit me! wow i need to get that done to my dogs… i KNOW for a fact they have tried it on people
maybe in a few years when they let out how far advanced the technology really is…

My neighbor’s dog is walking around whimpering and acts as if she is in pain. They bred her about 3 months ago and assumed that it didn’t take because she showed no signs of being pregnant. She hasn’t gotten any bigger..is still lean and muscular looking. It is three months later and the dog is pacing back and forth across their living room and whining while holding a toy. She won’t put it down, and she has been diging in their clothes as if she is making a bed. Her nipples are swollen and enlarged and there appears to be a small mass in her lower abdomen and she shows discomfort when you try to touch it. I am guessing it may be dried up milk…and I know that they need to take her to a vet so please dont tell me that. It isnt an option at this time obviously at 12:25 am. I just want to know if there is someone that has had this experience before or if anyone knows exactly what has happened. Thank you!

We live on a farm and our dog often runs off. We were thinking of getting a tracking ‘chip’ put in him, like the animal rescue league does. Does anyone know approx what this will cost? And does it really work? how convenient is it?
So far all of these answers are great!! I guess I was confused on what the chip does. So someone has to either find the animal or has to get it to the vet in order to use the chip?? Is there a chip that is like a GPS locator so if he gets lost we can track where he is??
